The grind of a college student is no joke! You have to have dedication, determination, & purpose amongst many other things to succeed 4 years at anything. When I met Jasmine to begin shooting for her graduation video I could tell she had all of these things and more and that this project we would later create meant a lot more then just a graduation video for 1 day of her life. It embodied a journey with many steps along the way.

The first day meeting Jasmine we met at the ASU campus in the front of the building. She came with a full suitcase full of props and nursing equipment to use with a full plan ready for what she wanted and I knew we were going to be able to enjoy creating together! It didn't take long to get to know her and find out about how much work she had put in to get where she is.

4 years of hard work resulting in a nursing degree is a huge accomplishment, but definitely doesn't define Jasmine. Not only was she coming up on her last year of school pushing through and looking for motivation to finish it out. In February, her mom was transferred to the ICU for a critical brain tumor that required multiple surgeries. Though some people would take this as a sign to lose hope and give up, Jasmine used it to push through and a sign to truly live and enjoy every moment!

This rigorous journey through nursing school for Jasmine was also filled with countless hours of studying, clinical rotations, and hands-on experiences that prepared her for the demanding world of healthcare. Each late-night study session, every challenging exam, and the emotional rollercoaster of patient interactions contributed to her growth not only as a student but also as a compassionate caregiver. However, despite this significant milestone, Jasmine remains multifaceted and her identity extends far beyond the realm of nursing.
Now, as a graduate with accolades such as:
-Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Nursing
-Founder of the first Black Student Nurses Association at ASU
-President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council
-Vice-President of the Zeta Alpha Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
-Undergraduate Faculty Member, Ida L. Jackson Leadership Institute
-Recipient of the 2025 Regional Director's Leadership and Philanthropy Award
-External Vice-President of the Pretty Smart Club
-Social Media Chair, Black Student Union Downtown
-A&P and Psychology Instructor's Aide
-Red Cross Subject Matter Expert Captain
-Teaching Assistant, Little Warriors Daycare
..... and many more! Jasmine does not plan on just stopping here!

In our conversations, she did assure me she has big plans for after college! Jasmine envisions herself making a significant impact in the healthcare sector, whether that means working directly with patients in a clinical setting or contributing to public health initiatives that address systemic issues within the community. She is passionate about advocating for health equity and aspires to be a voice for those who may not have access to adequate healthcare resources. Additionally, she is considering opportunities that allow her to travel and work in diverse environments, which would not only enhance her skills but also broaden her understanding of global health challenges.

Jasmine's nursing degree is a testament to her dedication and perseverance, it is merely one aspect of her multifaceted identity. She is poised to embark on a journey filled with opportunities, challenges, and the potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Her future is bright, and whatever path she chooses, it is clear that she will have great success and leave her stamp on whatever she chooses to pursue!
